Goodbye

I am back in sunny California!

Even though I had a great time traveling and learning about plate tectonics it is great to be home. I ended my last blog saying that I would go eat some Turkish food and I did. We all went Lavantes Bistro, which had some delicious food, here are some pictures of the things I ate.

I have two more years of college and then off to more geology studying. Thanks to everyone who followed my journey, I hope you learned something, I sure did.

Elveda, kwaheri, despedida,namaskar, Goodbye

Mount Erciyes ( Erciyes Dağı 38°31′12″N 35°28′48″E)

I am so tired, I am just barely writing this blog relying on coffee to keep me awake. The teacher who is leading this trip thought it would be nice to wake up at 11: 00 pm and travel to the mountain. I must admit it was quite beautiful to see the sunrise, but I would rather have gotten some sleep. Here is what we learned, though I am sure we will be taught it again, because if how little sleep we got.

Turkey is part of a transform boundary, located on the Anatolian Fault which runs between the Eurasian and Anatolian plate. A transform boundary is when two plates are sliding past each other.  Fracture zones which balance pieces of the mid-ocean ridge are transform boundaries. Here it is the Eurasian and Anatolian plates that are sliding past each other.

So we all have to be at the airport in three hours and between that time I plan on eating some Turkish food, especially desserts!
elveda!
